Hand ergometer for mobility-impaired patients
ERGOSANA’s hand ergometer has been designed for mobility-impaired patients with its construction being based on the ERGOSANA bicycle model SanaBike 1000. The seat can easily be slid away to accommodate paraplegic patients.
This special device is based on the proven functionality of our ergometers. A pneumatic spring enables the load unit’s easy adjustment to the individual height of every patient. A stable base guarantees maximum stability. The ergonomic handcranks enable a good power transmission during the rotation. The especially designed seat is guided on a rail. On this rail, it can be moved very easily to the best exercising position and fixed. For patients who have to train in a wheelchair, the ergometer can be converted within seconds by using a handle on the seat. As the seat can be easily pushed away, paraplegic patients are not dependent on assistance when transferring from the wheelchair to the seat. They can use the hand ergometer directly from the wheelchair.

The ERGOSANA “Pulse Steady State” program enables precise performance monitoring. Heart rate is measured via an integrated receiver and a special chest strap. The optional blood pressure monitor measures blood pressure at the leg artery above the ankle. A specific target heart rate range is set. The SanaSedeo 1000 then automatically adjusts the resistance by increasing or decreasing it so that the heart rate remains within this range. This ensures that the patient always trains in the optimal range for their goals, whether fat burning, increasing endurance, or cardiovascular training.
The speed-independent load is granted by a high-end eddy current brake with computer-controlled torque measurement. This control, together with the ideal centrifugal mass dimensioning, results in a very pleasant pedalling feeling, allowing the patient to fully exploit his or her reserves. The mechanism, consisting of state-of-the art components, runs almost noiseless, even at high speed.
The computer-controlled electronic high-end control centre is situated in the measuring head of the SanaSedeo 1000. The measuring head’s front-side features the control elements and a backlit graphic high-resolution LCD display. Its side, containing the display, is usually oriented towards the person operating the device. This is why an LED speed display is mounted on the head’s upper side, clearly visibile for the patient. If the device is used in the rehabilitation or training sector, the measuring head can easily be turned around to allow view on the display and control unit.
Thanks to the modern computer-controlled electronics of the SanaCouch 1000, all common load controls can be carried out using an external master device. The load can also be changed manually in steps of 5 watts on the touch display.
